Returning Home for Treatments
January 2018
Prior to leaving Arizona, I made an appointment with a holistic, integrative medical clinic about a 90-minute drive from my Florida home. At this appointment, I met with the doctor who headed up the clinic to talk about continuing treatments at this establishment. He was very personable and reassuring; he offered a plethora of holistic, anti-cancer treatments that sounded very promising. With treatments here, at least I could stay in my own home and drive my own car, which would save me a great deal of money and boost my morale. The sticker shock arrived, however, when I learned of the cost of this treatment for 2-3 months: approximately $40,000!!! Since I was already deeply in debt from the Arizona clinic, I had to say “thanks, but no thanks” and look elsewhere for additional treatment.
I finally decided to continue treatment at a holistic medical office that was a 45-minute drive from my home and had been recommended by a dear friend. Upon meeting with the doctor for the first time, I asked him if he’d had success in treating cancer patients. He replied, “No, I don’t and any doctor who tells you he does is bullshitting you”. Not very encouraging, but my Medicare insurance covered a good portion of my high-dose Vitamin C infusions. Four days a week, I came to this office to receive the Vitamin C IV’s and intravenous ozone therapy. The doctor at the previous Florida clinic informed me that chemo does not kill cancer stem cells but that high-dose Vitamin C does. So I assumed I was doing the right thing to kill off the rest of my tumors. This doctor also suggested that I start consuming massive doses of pancreatic enzymes with no real direction as to when to take them or how many to take. I just did my best from information I had gleaned from the Internet and hoped for the best. As time went on, it was apparent that something was not quite right with this doctor. I’m certainly no psychiatrist, but he seemed to be what one would consider to be “bi-polar”. He could be excited and passionate about a new treatment modality to the point of mania and expound on it for a lengthy period of time. Conversely, I witnessed him fly off the handle over seemingly nothing! He would blow up at staff in front of patients which was extremely disturbing. I had the extremely misfortune of being on the receiving end of one of his tirades, while other staff and patients were in the vicinity. It was very disturbing to say the least, but I new of no other clinics offering treatment options at that point so I hung in there.
