The Cancer Metastasizes
December 31, 2018
I joined my daughter, son-in-law and grandson in traveling downtown for the New Year’s Eve celebration which was jam-packed by the time we got there. There were throngs of people outside waiting for the “Pineapple Drop” at midnight. We decided to walk down to Bayfront Park to wait for the fireworks display at midnight. While sitting on one of the park benches with my family, I felt myself being bitten several times by what I assumed were mosquitos and thought nothing more of it. The wonderful night concluded and we wound our way home through the massive traffic jam. Welcome 2019!
January 2019
After an extremely stressful year, I prayed to God that I would be given a respite for at least a little while from my health problems. I had relied strongly on my faith in God to get me through the past year and prayed faithfully on a daily basis which included saying the rosary to our Blessed Virgin Mother. Imagine my upset then, when I notified the husband and wife of a Bible Study Healing Group that I had been attending for a couple of months that I would be absent from their classes for awhile as I recuperated from surgery and they offered absolutely NO response whatsoever! Apparently, they were upset and/or disappointed in me for having surgery rather than relying on my faith in Jesus alone to heal me!!! Really? They couldn’t even come up with a weak “Get well soon”????? Nope. I got zero, zip, nada from them. Needless to say, I never rejoined their Bible study healing group. I didn’t need or want their judgment of me.
A few days after our New Year’s Eve celebration, I was itching the bug bites on my lower legs and noticed that my ankles were swollen considerably. I chalked this up to my less-than-stellar diet and the fact that I hadn’t been taking my daily walks as usual. However, after getting back to a healthier diet and walking much more often, the swelling in my feet and ankles persisted. About 10 days after this, I developed severe joint pain in my ankles and especially in my knees. There was also pain in my thighs and calves, wrists, elbows and upper arms——-much like fibromyalgia. This was extremely unusual for me. In the past, I have experienced problems with pain in my knees, but over-the-counter remedies by Glucosamine and Chrondroitin took care of the problem. That was not the case this time around. Thinking that perhaps I had developed some type of autoimmune disease such as Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis sent me back to my PCP for blood work to see what was going on.
A week later I received the results of the blood draw and I was positively stunned to see that my cancer markers were not only elevated, but that my inflammatory markers (Sed Rate and Highly Sensitive C-Reactive Protein) were sky high——much, much higher than they had ever been before! Further, there was no evidence from the bloodwork that I had any kind of autoimmune disease. I knew this could only mean one thing——that the cancer was advancing. Because the cancer marker for ovarian cancer was significantly elevated, I assumed that this was where the cancer had spread to. My PCP wanted to refer me to an oncologist based on these results but I refused that referral. I knew I would not be doing chemotherapy. Instead, I switched to a new PCP who is a functional doctor; one who looks for the source of the problem rather than just treating symptoms.

I brought all of my lab work to my first appointment with my new PCP. She was a nice enough woman, but she seemed to be typing into her computer the entire time we were together. I asked for a referral for a CT/PET scan to see what was going on in my body to which she readily agreed. She also referred me for an ultrasound of my abdomen and reproductive organs. She, too, felt that there was something serious going on that needed to be investigated. We agreed to meet 2 weeks later after the completion of all of the testing.

The day of my follow-up appointment with my new PCP was understandably quite nervous and not especially optimistic. I was hoping for the best but I knew things didn’t look good. After waiting for the doctor in the treatment room for what seemed like an eternity, she finally entered the room. I cheerfully and optimistically asked her “So what’s the good news?” She told me that my abdominal and reproductive ultrasound reports were boring—-there was nothing of importance to report. The CT/PET scan report was , unfortunately, a totally different story. The scan showed that the cancer was widespread throughout both of my lungs in every segment and lobe. I felt that the floor had dropped out from under me!!! I had officially joined the Stage 4 Breast Cancer Club with metastasis to the lungs. I knew this was considered a death sentence in conventional cancer treatment circles. I was shell-shocked to say the least. My PCP looked at me sympathetically and suggested that I contact an integrative cancer doctor in Boca Raton, Florida. Upon reviewing his website I realized that his main form of treatment was IPT! Since I was finished with IPT, I crossed that off my list as my next step. I immediately called a dear friend who has been working with me energetically for the past couple of years. She came to my home to console me and offered to pay for a hypnosis session with a friend of hers (which helped calm me immensely!).
I decided to work with my former PCP as he also offered alternative cancer treatments not far from my home. During a $400 consultation with him, he strongly felt that I could overcome the situation I was in, which led me to feel greatly encouraged for the first time in the past several days. He laid out his plan for me which included: 50 grams of Vitamin C along with Bicarbonate of Soda, DMSO, EDTA, and Ozone all in the same IV. He also suggested I take Low-Dose Naltrexone first thing in the morning to fight the cancer along with milk thistle and alpha lipoic acid. He said I should be taking a Mushroom Blend to boost my immune system, a coffee enema once a day and ingest pancreatic enzymes “to tolerance”. He felt that I should be orally ingesting as much Vitamin C as I could tolerate or at least 2 grams 3 times a day. Diet recommendations included the Whole 30 diet, with no dairy or bread, although eggs cooked in grass-fed butter were permitted. He recommended juicing of green leafy vegetables such as kale and celery, while only minimal fruit should be eaten. He also recommended that I do an ozone sauna once a week and I use his PEMF (Pulsed Electro-Magnetic Field) Machine at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes per session.
After doing this doctor’s plan for 3 weeks, I realized it was not targeted enough for the situation I was now in. The diet was too vague and I was only receiving one Vitamin C IV a week. Prior to this I had always received at least three Vitamin C IV’s per week along with multiple ozone saunas and/or ozone IV’s and even those failed to stop the cancer. This soon felt like a rehash of all I had done before with no real benefit. Yet I had nothing else to go with . . . at least not yet.
